INDIAN
COUNCIL OF MEDICAL RESEARCH
ANNOUNCEMENT
FOR STS 2012
- On
behalf of Dr VM Katoch, Director General, Indian Council of Medical
Research and Secretary, Department of Health Research, applications
are invited from interested undergraduate medical students to
participate in the Short Term Studentship Program (STS 2012).
- The
Indian Council of Medical Research initiated the Short Term
Studentship Program in 1979 in order to promote interest and aptitude
for research among medical undergraduates. The main objective of this
program is to provide an opportunity to undergraduate medical students
to familiarize themselves with research methodology and techniques by
being associated for a short duration with their seniors on an ongoing
research program or by undertaking independent projects. It is
expected that this may serve as an incentive for them to take up
research as a career in the future. The Institution must provide the
student with all facilities for carrying out research.
- The
students are free to choose any topic of their choice in consultation
with their guide for submission under STS.
- During
the last 32 years, medical undergraduate students of various medical
colleges in the country have shown keen interest in Council’s Short
Term Research Studentship (STS) program. The Council has decided to
continue this program by awarding limited number of studentships to
deserving undergraduate students during the vacations for the year
2012.
- The
student is required to register on ICMR website ONLINE by 10th
January
2012, submit the application form and research proposal online latest
by 25th January
2012. Proposals will be evaluated and results will be displayed on the
ICMR website by end of March 2012. If selected, the student is
expected to complete the project in any two given months between April
and August 2012 and submit the report before the last date of
submission i.e. 15th
September,
2012. The student will be awarded stipend and certificate only if his/
her report is approved.
- The
