Announcements

 

Beginning with January 2010, the Indian Journal of Medical Research is introducing the following new Sections:

·        Perspective/Personal View/View point

·        Systematic Reviews (Including Meta-analysis)

·        Student IJMR

Perspectives/Personal View/View point

These are primarily opinion pieces written by senior scientists, public health experts and policy makers.  Such papers will be by a single author. No anonymous articles will be published. They should be about 1000-1500 words and may contain References.  Except for commissioned pieces, all submissions will be published subject to peer review.

Systematic Review (Including Meta-analysis)

The papers under this section will be critical appraisal of different studies on important topics of clinical/public health significance to obtain an unbiased  quantitative estimate of the overall .effect of an intervention or variable  for a defined outcome. The focus could be on cause, diagnosis, prognosis, therapy, prevention etc. They would be thoroughly researched articles giving comprehensive and balanced  perspective. There should be a structured abstract. Systematic reviews could be about 2500-3000 words with minimum number of Tables/Figs.  They will be published subject to peer review.

Student IJMR

Aimed to encourage and promote the participation of students in medical research, this new section is being started exclusively for medical students.  This section would also include reports of important scientific developments that will impact patient care, public health and/or career advancement. This section may also carry Abstracts of research done by students as part of ICMR’s Short Term Studentship, DST’s Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana  etc. Opinion pieces from students also can be considered. The length of the papers will be not more than 1000 words. All the content in this section will be published subject to peer review.

 

 


 

The Indian Journal of Medical Research will publish the following new sections/items
starting from January 2004.

1. Reviews: Previously IJMR has published reviews occasionally. From January 2004
we hope to publish one review every month. Those who have experience and expertise in
any aspect of bio-medical research may either submit suitable review papers or contact
the Editor with a proposal for writing a review for further guidance.

2. Correspondence: Letters to the Editor should be brief (no more than 150 words)

a. Correspondencce on original papers published in recent issues of IJMR

b. Letters to the Editor on a topic of current interest in health science

Manuscripts can be submitted by e-mail and also  in a CD in MS Word (in addition to the hard copies).
