The
symposia are conducted to familiarize the students with
the ethical guidelines of biomedical research, since
they would be doing research involving animals / human
participants for thesis/ dissertation work. Feedback
from the students showed that the students were very
satisfied with the program and definitely wanted more of
such sessions. These symposia are mainly for the medical
undergraduates and medical and non-medical post
graduates.
First
Symposium
was
initiated at Chennai in coordination with the
TamilNadu Dr. M.G.R.
Medical University from
25th –27th April 2005. (total
100 students)
The second
Symposium
was conducted at Thiruvananthapuram in
coordination with the
Kerala State Institute of Health and Family Welfare
from 4th –6th July 2005.
Postgraduates included students from the Ayurvedic
(Traditional medicine) Medical College,
Thiruvananthapuram. (total
130 students)
The
third
Symposium
was held at
Pune in coordination with University
of Pune and National AIDS Research Institute, Pune from
29th September – 1st October
2005. (total
110 students)
The fourth
Symposium
was held at
Lucknow in coordination with King George's Medical University
from 12th -14th
September, 2006. (total
169 students)
